Nine Steps Ahead |
Nine Steps Ahead is the first canonical[1] AIB Short. The short focuses mostly on Nine and Team 3. It was released on January 26, 2023.
Synopsis[]
After winning a game of chance, Nine believes he has the power to read minds. Chaos ensues.
Plot[]
The episode starts with Cork and Nine playing a game where Nine has to guess which of Cork's hands the pebble is in, which he would get a cookie if he guessed correctly. Nine guesses correctly and is awarded the cookie, leading to Nine believing that he has E.S.P.; the ability to read people's minds. Cork rejects this, but Nine zooms over to Salami to test his newfound "powers". He tells Salami that he senses that Salami is afraid that people will find out he's actually a piece of serrano ham instead of a salami slice. Salami freaks out about the truth, but then quickly calls it a bold accusation. Telescope wanders in, and is sensed that he is afraid of change and clowns. Telescope mocks him and denies it as well.
Nine then goes to test more vulnerable minds, that being the rest of Team 3. He identifies that Recycling Bin believes donuts are bad for the environment, that Teabag desperately wants limbs, and that Mitten fears that he isn't living up to be an ideal parent. Finally, he gets to Bone, who is afraid about Nine figuring out his secret. Nine scries that Bone had eggs benedict for breakfast, a conclusion that is wrong, as Bone says he had cereal instead.
Upon realizing that Nine doesn't actually have E.S.P., Salami plans to combat idiocy with more idiocy, by wearing tinfoil hats "weakening" Nine's powers which then makes Nine fall to the ground, and forget what happened. Cork then asks for another game, with Salami screaming ‘NOOOO!’ in an attempt to stop him.

Goofs[]
- At 1:29, Cinnamon Bun's tail is cut off. This is due to the fact that these frames were slide transitions.
Trivia[]
- Farty & Cinnamon Bun are the only ones to have no lines this short.
- There are shown to be some new assets in this short.
- Salami, Teabag, Cinnamon Bun, and Bone now have their new looks.
