"Oh, oh thank goodness! I finally found you, my sweet!" - Nabla, Get A Grip

Nabla is a female contestant in Animated Inanimate Battle. She is currently competiting on Team 4.

Appearance[]

Nabla is a red Nabla symbol. She doesn't have legs, which combined with being pointed downwards, causes her to have issues with her balance.

Redesign[]

In Season 1B, Nabla did not receive a redesign, only color and outline adjustments.

Personality[]

Nabla is a very intelligent and smart, yet cynical person. She may be seen as "nerdy" by some, but she takes pride in having that title.

As her name applies, she is a good person with numbers and equations, but that's not all: she always has a backup plan with her and is always wanting to help her team win, preferring to always make a plan first, and take action later, as well as planning many strategies for the team, even if the chaos on her team (especially on the behalf of Alef, her ego-filled cousin, and his Bro-liance with Ketchup and Frisbee) makes her way of organizing the team significantly harder.

Although smart, Nabla can become easily irritated and bossy towards her team, in special to Alef, who is always picking and mocking on her because of her (in his words) "nerdy" attributes.

Her family relationship with her cousin got more and more heated as the series went on, especially after Fartists, when she and her best friend, Glue, decided to "return on the same page" to Alef, for everything that he’s ever done to Nabla, making a public humiliation towards her (which was even worsened by Whoopee Cushion and his "prank" that he pulled on Cinnamon Bun, which was also the reason why their team was up for elimination on AIB 4).

This said tension got even worse in Sun Blocked when Alef accused Nabla for being responsible for making the Paint Monster that attacked Oodle in the previous episode, resulting in her team splitting up on itself (Nabla's alliance, the Bro-liance and Envelope, Lyre and Toothpick, who all stayed neutral during this situation).

But, despite all of this, Nabla has a big friendship with Glue, due to both sharing mutual affection and beliefs between each other, as well as actively helping Nabla with her revenge on Alef and also willingly helping her with getting her chalkboard out of the water, when it was thrown away by Alef in An Ice Beginning. She also seems to have a decently good friendship with Leek as well.

Speaking of which, Nabla seems to value things such as her chalkboard, which appears to be very important to her, with her referring to it not as a "thing", but rather as a being on itself (even going as far as giving it nicknames, such as "baby"), being genuinely mad at Alef for throwing it in the ocean and for Whoopee Cushion for messing with it on AIB 3, and also acting dramatically upon finding it in the ocean, as she screamed and ran to it after seeing it when her team cleared the challenge in AIB 2.

However, her revenge against Alef with Glue and Leek may have gone too far, even for her standards. And yet, despite her many conflicts with her cousin, she does seem to at least care about him, putting aside all the distances both have with each other.

The Pilot[]

"As you can see, our reaserch is...very limited." -Nabla This article or section is currently a stub. If you have any canonical information you want to add to the page, you can help the Animated Inanimate Battle wiki by doing so.

An Ice Beginning[]

At the start of the episode, when Oodle gives (mostly) everyone voices and limbs, Nabla complains about the lack of legs. Later when Oodle starts assigning teams, Nabla and Alef who was shown to bully her were assigned to the same team, Team 4. Alef then says that Nabla and him are cousins which surprises the rest of the team, but Nabla confirms that they are cousins, although she says it is unfortunate. Alef says not to put it like that and that “they mesh so well together”, despite what happens later in the episode.

During the challenge, Nabla proposes a plan to the team, but before she is done explaining it, Alef pushes it off a chalkboard (and accidentally hits Glue with it). Alef says that he isn’t gonna say the plan is “stupid and hard to follow” (although implying that it is), but says that a bunch of “science mumbo-jumbo” isn’t gonna help, with agreement from Leek and Toothpick. Nabla in response sarcastically asks what would help then. Frisbee comes in then with javelins and hits members on other teams with them. After that happens, Nabla says it was “surprisingly effective”, with Alef responding to keep “her geekiness to herself.” Alef is then knocked off by Sock, with Nabla thanking him.

Smarter & Boulder[]

During the challenge, Nabla proposes a plan again (with the plan being that the stronger contestants push near the center of the boulder with the weaker ones pushing the edges), so they can get “maximum force”, but Alef stops her and says that it’s bad enough that she’s a nerd but now she’s downgraded (referring to her using a smaller chalkboard due to Alef pushing off the larger one), with Nabla saying that he is the reason that the larger chalkboard is gone with Alef responding “Boohoo.” Glue comes in though telling Alef to knock it off as Nabla wasn’t the “only victim of his escapades” (referring to Glue being hit by Nabla’s chalkboard which was pushed off by Alef). Alef says though that they have an athlete on their team, Frisbee and that he could push the boulder one-handed, and he then pushes it by himself for the majority of the challenge.

Get A Grip[]

The episode starts with Nabla finally finding her chalkboard of it being lost. Nabla tries to move it, but struggles. Glue comes in though and helps her bring it. While bringing it, Nabla talks to Glue about how Alef has bullied her, Glue replies saying he’s a jerk, with Nabla thanking her for it as no one else has been willing to say the same. Nabla talks about Alef constantly putting her down, and saying that as long as Alef has the rest of the team in his grasp, she’ll never get a say in anything. Glue has an idea though, she asks for some “blackmail-adjacent details” of Alef, as Nabla must know something about him since they’re cousins. Nabla whispers to Glue and then it cuts to the intro. Later during the challenge, Nabla tells Whoopee Cushion that she has a plan for the challenge, with Alef being confused on how she got it back, with Glue responding with “nunya”. Toothpick questions how Nabla got the time to write the plan between losing limbs and falling asleep, with Nabla responding with her ability to sleep-write. Leek questions how he knows what the challenge is gonna be but Nabla gets focused on Whoopee Cushion erasing all her plans and it just calling Nabla a jerk, with Alef laughing until he’s the one targeted with Whoopee Cushion calling him a “big fat meanie” on the chalkboard. Later, it turns out that the secret revealed to Glue was that Alef’s real name isn’t “Alef” but actually “Aleph”, a name he doesn’t like.

Fartists[]

During the challenge, Nabla and Glue refer to Alef as “Aleph”, with him saying that the name is dumb and that the name isn’t cool enough. Nabla responds saying it’s “a chink in the metaphorical armor that surrounds his fragile ego”, with Alef telling her to shut it. Nabla’s friend, Glue (and Nabla) then take leadership of the challenge with the stated reasoning of Glue being an artist. Glue then uses Ketchup and herself as red and white paint to make pink. Toothpick and Leek are then used as brushes. While Alef is excluded, he forms the Broliance with Frisbee and Ketchup. After that is formed, Alef goes back to the team with the goal of “getting his place on this team back”. Nabla then taunts him before Alef demands he gets something to do, with Glue responding that they have it under control. As Alef attempt to help, Nabla rejects his attempt, responding that he doesn’t get to help, followed by her calling him “some family”, leaving him embarrassed. Later, when the painting is done, Cinnamon Bun gets stuck on the painting, with Alef coming to get her out to save the team, but Cinnamon Bun gets out herself. Nabla and Glue sarcastically say that he saved the day, with some anger from Alef. Alef then though accidentally slips on the painting, Frisbee tries to get him out but accidentally propels him into the sky, and when he comes back onto the ground, Nabla, Glue, and Whoopee Cushion laugh in response. Nabla says to consider this revenge for everything he’s done to her, with Alef angrily walking towards them, making them cower. Alef then runs away in tears, causing them to feel bad about what they did. Nabla and Glue consider apologizing to Alef, but fear that he won’t accept. In the end scene of the episode, Alef kicks the paint can that had the Paint Monster that attacked Oodle and caused the challenge to change, and to his shock, an inverted red triangle resembling Nabla is on it.

Sun Blocked[]

During the elimination, Nabla and Glue reluctantly congratulate him on his prize, but Alef then shows the paint can with an inverted red triangle on it, saying that Nabla created the Paint Monster. Glue comes to her defense though, saying the claim is ridiculous. The Broliance responds though by saying she did predict the claw machine challenge, but Leek joins Nabla’s side and says that it was in her sleep which makes a difference, since sabotage is a conscious choice with him also saying that he thinks Nabla wouldn’t do that sort of thing. Nabla believes that Alef is framing her. Alef responds saying that it is earnest, saying what else could a red triangle mean. Oodle quickly throws it away in the interdimensional memento collection when he gets worried after noticing the triangle on the paint bucket, and says the contestants should just focus on the actual important stuff. As soon as the voting starts, Glue votes Alef instantly for messing with Nabla. Ketchup and Frisbee then vote for Nabla afterwards, much to her shock. Leek then votes for Alef because they had the challenge under control and that he could’ve just backed off for once. Nabla then tells Alef to admit that he’s lying, with Alef saying he is being honest. Nabla responds saying that they know what they did was too far and that he didn’t deserve it, but also thought he was better than this. Alef responds saying he thought Nabla was better than this, with both of them voting for each other. After some votes from the neutral contestants for Whoopee Cushion after he votes for himself as a joke, he is eliminated, with the last vote being Toothpick who votes for Whoopee Cushion after being scared of voting for Alef or Nabla due to risk of angering their friends. Later, during the challenge, Alef finds the sun piece but gets interrupted by Nabla, Glue, and Leek, getting pushed with his flashlight taken in the process, Nabla questions how they get to the sun piece with the Broliance saying that they should take control of the challenge because they want to prevent sabotage. A huge argument happens as a result, with everyone but Toothpick screaming at each other. Toothpick eventually gets the sun piece and wins for the team all by herself.
