Alef is a male contestant in Animated Inanimate Battle and a member of Team 4.
Appearance[]
Alef is a blue letter alef (א), which is the first letter of the Hebrew alphabet. Depending on the context, it can mean things other than being the first letter of Hebrew, such as infinite cardinalities.
Redesign[]
In Season 1b and onward, Alef's outline is slightly more saturated, and the corners are sharper.
Personality[]
Alef has a big ego and views himself more mature than his cousin, Nabla. He is very passive-aggressive. He also puts on a nice guy act, but snaps when tampered with. He is easily irritable, usually when he's called "Aleph", his real name that he deems a dumb name. Though he often gets into many fights with his cousin, he does seem to at least care about her. Alef's teasing of Nabla could be playful and fun and games in his mind. He cares about his team, best shown in "Fartists", when he jumps in to save Cinnamon Bun.

The Pilot[]
Alef does not do much in this debut, other than being in the stack alongside Jelly, Can, Shot Put, Bouncy Ball, Toothpick, Package, and Bacon. He eventually falls down alongside the other in the stack when Safe gets on top of the stack and causes the stack to lose balance.
An Ice Beginning[]
Alef was first seen chatting with Antimatter until he was interrupted by Album being thrown into her. He greets her and questions the stain on her head, but then interrupts her, showing no interest in finding out. When Alef is placed on Team 4 with Nabla, he was surprised to see that they're on the same team, because they're unsurprisingly cousins. Nabla finds it unfortunate, while Alef disagrees while saying they mesh well together, followed by her telling her to not make him look stupid and they'll be cool. She then steps on Whoopee Cushion, causing a fart sound spews out. Whoopee Cushion bursts into laughter as Alef threatens to choke him in anger.
During the challenge, while Nabla attempts to plan out their success, Alef pushes her chalkboard into the water without warning. He informs Nabla that he won't say her plan is stupid and hard to follow (despite hinting that he does indeed think otherwise), but if they want to win a bunch of "cockamamie science mumbo-jumbo" won't help. He then notices Frisbee's javelin throwing abilities, which effectively takes out Nacho, Teabag, Chalk, and Flaggy. Nabla found it surprisingly effective, while Alef agrees and tells her to keep her geekiness to herself, much to Nabla's annoyance. He is then knocked off the ice block by Bouncy Ball. During a dispute between Antimatter and Farty, he splashes them with water, rendering them out of the challenge.
Smarter & Boulder[]
Alef is seen next to Frisbee as Nabla plans to use weight distribution to push the boulder up the mountain. Afterwards he intervenes and says she downgraded from being just a nerd. Nabla then retaliates yelling at him for pushing her chalkboard into the ocean, while Alef simply mocks her by saying "boo-hoo". Glue tells him to knock it off since she was also caught up in her escapades. Alef simply responds saying that Frisbee is an athlete and that he could pick it up one handed. He's later seen with the rest of the team at the top of the mountain, getting 3rd place in the challenge.
Get A Grip[]
During Nabla's ranting about Alef constantly berating him, a giant version of him is seen squishing the rest of the team (besides Glue and Nabla), though it's not a physical version of her. He is seen with the rest of the team dismembered in the claw machine surprised that Nabla managed to get her giant chalkboard back. She's curious about her successful attempt to retrieve it from the ocean, to which Glue responds with "nunya". Alef sarcastically laughs about the "nunya business" joke, followed by him aggressively and mockingly laughing loudly in Glue's face, causing her mild disturbance. Once Whoopee Cushion makes fun of Nabla by drawing her with an ugly face with the label "JERK" next to it, Alef laughs and mocks her, but is then angered by Whoopee Cushion drawing him by a pile of manure with the label "BiG FAT MEANiE" next to her. He then threatens to knock the air out of him.
She is the last one out, ironically getting the team 4th place in the challenge. He shows relief of being free of the claw machine, followed by him quite literally knocking the air out of Whoopee Cushion while grumbling at hef angrily. Lyre is greatly disturbed by this and faints, while Glue tells her to calm down whilst calling her by the name "Aleph". Alef stops in his tracks as the name echoes through her head and turns to Glue angrily while questioning her choice of calling her by that name.
Fartists[]
Alef plays a major role in this episode. During the challenge, Alef stares down at the paper as Nabla and Glue continue to mock his name by continuously calling him "Aleph" as he angrily tells them to stop. The other teammates question why he dislikes the name. He continues by saying he hates the name as nobody cool has been called that while emphasizing the difference in the two. Nabla calls it "a chink in the metaphorical armor that surrounds his fragile ego", causing Alef to tell her to shove it while upset that she told Glue about his embarrassing secret. Glue then takes control of the challenge and pushes Alef to the side, excluding him from the challenge.
Later, he's seen sitting near Frisbee, who has also been excluded. He's both annoyed and proud of Nabla for "dethroning" him from the team as he curses his ego. Frisbee attempts to comfort him by agreeing that "Alef" is a rad name. The two bond as they talk about being excluded, along with Ketchup who was squeezed to the point of almost nausea for the challenge. The three developed a close friendship while they believe that they don't need the rest of the team and create their own alliance, now known as the Bro-liance. Ketchup agrees with the idea believing that they can make their own impact, and Alef follows up the idea. He then slowly starts to think and get angrier. He blurts that they shouldn't be sitting around doing nothing and attempts to get his place on the team back. He confronts Nabla, who says "Aleph is crawling back to them". Alef then calms himself down before demanding to help out the team, to which Glue says its not needed and Lyre mentions that they're almost done. He takes Leek from under Glue's arm, causing her to fall and attempts to at least help finish the painting. Nabla refuses and says he doesn't get to help. Alef then says that they're family and she can't treat each other like this, before accidentaly snapping Leek in half, one of which hits Glue in the head. Nabla snatches the other half from Alef and says "some family he is", causing Alef to be embarrassed.
Glue and Nabla finish the painting and they celebrate with a high-five. Alef looks in annoyance, and is then surprised when Cinnamon Bun gets stuck on their painting due to the stickiness of the glue/ketchup mixture. He attempts to help Cinnamon Bun out of the painting but she falls backwards and out of the painting, ripping the eyes out in the process. He facepalms, followed by Nabla and Glue mocking him once more by calling him Aleph. He then screams at them to stop calling him Aleph before slipping and getting stuck in the painting. Frisbee attempts to get him out with a javelin, but is accidentally thrown hundreds of feet in the air before crashing to the ground. Nabla, Glue and Whoopee Cushion then laughs as he tries to get untangled from the painting. He rips it in half as he is fuming with extreme anger. Nabla calls it revenge for everything he's done to her before asking how it felt mockingly once more. Alef reaches his breaking point as he furiously stomps towards Glue and Nabla, causing them to shake with fear of what he might do. He then stops with tears in his eyes, hoping she got what she wanted before running away.
His team ends up losing and he's seen sitting alone. Glue wants to apologize, but Nabla fears he won't accept. Leek says that it won't matter since the viewers will "vote him out anyway". He is then seen after the voting screen walking. He sees the paint bucket and angrily kicks it before noticing something on it. It's a red triangle, which leaves Alef dumbfounded because of its resemblance to Nabla.
Sun Blocked[]
Alef and Toothpick are washing the paint off of them in the ocean from the previous challenge as they agree that they would've went there sooner if they knew it was washable. Toothpick then asks Alef if he's okay concerning what happened last episode. He brushes it off saying he's fine and things will be turning around for him soon as he looks towards Glue and Nabla with a sly face. Toothpick says that it's good that he's doing alright.
He's next scene holding the paint bucket behind his back as the elimination commences. He gets the most votes by a very large margine, so he wins the prize, which is a flashlight. He is reluctantly congratulated by Nabla and Glue who says he deserves it. He comments by saying he knows and shares the paint bucket with everyone. Lyre assumes that Alef is responsible for the attack Oodleendured by the Paint Monster who resides in said bucket. He then reveals the red triangle print, which causes everyone shock, especially Nabla. Alef reveals that Nabla created the paint monster because of the red triangle on it. Glue backs her up saying that its ridiculous that he'd accuse her of sabotage and attacking Oodle. Ketchup and Frisbee side with Alef agreeing that it's not hard to believe since she predicted the claw machine challenge. Leek sides with Nabla saying that he wouldn't believe Nabla would do something such as sabotage because it's a conscious choice. Nabla assumes that Alef is trying to frame her, while he calls it earnest because a red triangle couldn't insinuate anything else but her. Oodle snatches the paint bucket from Alef and throws it away, much to Alef's confusion. Oodle doesn't want another elimination derail so he asks him to allow the elimination to progress, to which he complies.
As the voting starts, Glue and Leek vote for Alef for messing with Nabla and ruining the challenge for them. Alef and Nabla then get into a quarrel where Nabla tells Alef to stop lying, but Alef believes that he's not. Nabla then tells Alef that he didn't deserve what happened last challenge, but she thought better of him. Alef says he thought better of Nabla as well before voting for her, and Nabla votes Alef. They both watch as Whoopee Cushion jokes about voting himself causing them to look at him annoyed. Alef is in the bottom 3 with Nabla and Whoopee Cushion and is silently telling Toothpick not to vote him out. He is safe along with Nabla with 3 votes. They are relieved before shunning each other. After Whoopee Cushion is eliminated, he's having a stare off with Nabla, Leek and Glue. Frisbee is going crazy because of the heat, but he assumes he's as annoyed with Nabla's posse as well. He's knocked off his flotation as Frisbee swims quickly to hit the sun with a javelin.
After the world turns pitch black, Oodle asks to borrow Alef's flashlight, which annoys him. He's then seen flickering the flashlight when mentioned to use a proper light source, which angers Nabla. He finds the sun piece in one of the claw machine, but is shoved into it by Glue and Nabla and has his flashlight taken by Leek. He then yells and argues with Nabla before getting physical with her, causing a fight cloud in the team, excluding Toothpick, Envelope and Lyre.
